Ares Protection and Privacy Guidelines
Posted in Uncategorized on August 11th, 2009 by adminConnecting to a peer-to-peer file-sharing network such as Ares opens up a part of your hard drive to a vast number of connected users worldwide. Never add private files to your download folder as it is visible to the rest of the network, making it ready to be accessed by anyone connected to you through the network. The default download folder of Ares is located in its installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Ares P2P\Downloads).
For added security, you can configure Ares to filter out contents that contain adult materials and the likes, especially when you are sharing your computer with younger family members in your home.
Worms and Trojans have, along with time, have also already become very modern. Some files in the network are infected with such kind of viruses and can really mess up your computer big time. To safeguard you from such threats, Ares has forbidden launching certain file types such as .exe, .bin, .bat and .vbs from within the application. Configuration to filter out suspicious files from the search results is also available to Ares users.
But above all this, keep in mind that the best way to keep your computer away from such threats is to always run an up-to-date virus scan on your hard drives, especially on the new files.
